Our Nigerian Dwarf Goat Sales Policy

Thank you for your interest in our farm and our Nigerian Dwarf Goats (NDG).  Our reputation is very important to us.  Therefore, it is extremely important that we ensure our business transactions are handled with the utmost integrity.  We created a Sales Policy that we believe is very fair and in keeping of the spirit of other NDG farmers.  We believe it is written clearly and concisely to effectively communicate the responsibilities of the Seller (Field of Blessings Farm) and the Purchaser (the individual or business buying one or more of our goats).  If you have any questions or require further clarification, the best time to inquire about these is prior to entering into the business agreement (Signing a Purchase Agreement and placing a deposit).  We would rather you pose your questions to us than to have any regrets after.

The following constitutes the Field of Blessings Farm Sales Agreement

Field of Blessings Farm may also be used interchangeably with the terms “Seller”, “the Farm”, and/or “FOBF”.

If you are interested in a kid from a specific breeding pair, please contact us as soon as possible.  Your contact information will be obtained and you will be placed on the Reservation List for that breeding in the order your request was made.  You will be notified when the reserved kidding has occurred and whether or not a kid of your preference is available.

Please note that an inquiry does not constitute a sale; Only the receipt of a deposit will be considered a binding agreement of a pre-sale.

If a reservation can be honored, a $200 Deposit is required within three days of this notification to hold the kid of your choice.  A $200 Deposit is required within three days of verbally committing to purchase an older kid or an adult goat.  Deposits are Non-Refundable because when we a hold a goat on deposit, it prevents a potential sale to someone else.  The only exceptions are if an animal is found to have a physical abnormality, a significant illness, dies, or suffers a permanent injury prior to it leaving the farm’s premises.

Please note that Field of Blessings reserves the right to retain any kid that is born into our herd.

This may occur even after a deposit has been received on a specific breeding. A breeder’s goal is to continually improve upon the genetic correctness of their herd and the resultant overall genetics of the breed.   Sometimes, something special in a kid does not stand out until they age some and then it is realized that it would be beneficial to the herd to retain a specific kid.  At that time, we may have to make the decision to decide to keep a kid that was potentially intended to go to another home. It is a rarity that it occurs, because typically we know in advance what breedings we are retaining from, but the potential is a possibility.

We reserve the right to modify pricing on kids once they are born, pricing them higher or lower as we deem appropriate.

We base our pricing on the anticipated kidding from a breeding pair.  However, sometimes fair pricing adjustments will be made after noting the kids as they develop.

We reserve the right to sell our goats only to homes that already own or will own at least one other goat at the time the goat would be due to leave our farm.

Goats are herd animals and require at least one other goat to live as they are meant to: for communication, relationship, hierarchy, and to appropriately thrive.   As much as we can love on, spoil, talk to, and care for our goats, neither humans nor other animal species can speak goat language or form those goat behavioral connections that they require.

As responsible breeders, we at FOBF believe that it is our responsibility to have all kids examined by our farm veterinarian within 7-14 days of birth.  Since many of our goats are show goats, they are disbudded as soon as our vet deems favorable.  Our kids are humanely disbudded by our vet under gas anesthesia.

We give the initial and booster CDT vaccinations which are intended to provide coverage for one year.   Because across the country, parasites have developed a resistance to dewormers, and even some strains of coccidia have developed a resistance to antimicrobials, we do not blanket treat our herd with either medications.  We will provide a dewormer and/or antimicrobial based on symptoms/diagnosis and in advisement with our veterinarian.  Each kid will be accompanied by a complete health record.

Please note:  In accordance with state law, each goat that is transported across state lines will require a Veterinary Exam and Certificate.  The Seller will pay the cost up front to our farm’s veterinarian with the Purchaser’s understanding and acceptance of responsibility to reimburse FOBF the amount necessary to cover the fees associated with the veterinarian exam, any required testing (e.g., stool specimen) and the required Vet Certificate at the time of final purchase.  The approximate cost is $50.  An itemized receipt provided from the veterinarian’s office will be given along with the Vet Certificate and other final paperwork.

Each kid’s ears are tattooed according to ADGA guidelines.  The Seller will initially assume the cost and administrative responsibility of registering each goat kid with the ADGA, with the expectation that the fee will be reimbursed by the Purchaser in the final sale cost.  All kids will also be eligible for AGS and NDGA registration at Purchaser’s responsibility and expense.  If the Purchaser is interested in registering their kids with the AGS and/or NDGA please notify the Seller so that they can complete their appropriate section of the required paperwork necessary for the Purchaser to complete and submit.  For those showing through the Junior Louisiana Goat Association, the Seller will assume the administrative responsibility for submitting the required LMGA Validation Certificate, the request for a LA Bred Tag, and will pay the $15/tag cost up front, with the understanding that the Purchaser will reimburse the Seller for the total cost of the tags at the time of Final Purchase.  The Seller will distribute the LA Bred Tag to the Purchaser.

All Sales are Final.

We hope that when a person purchases a goat from us, they are making a purchase for the lifetime of that goat.  However, we realize unpredictable things happen in life, and there is the potential that it is necessary for a goat to be sold.  In that situation, FOBF would appreciate being given the first opportunity to purchase the goat back.  We may not be able to purchase back the animal, but may know of a good home that would be interested in purchasing the goat from the owner.

Tentative arrangements to pick up or transport your goat(s) will be made at time of deposit.  Any kid(s) that you reserve will be kept until weaning, approximately 8-12 weeks of age.  We will keep you posted of progress during weaning of kids.  We encourage you to come visit your kid(s) prior to their weaning.  Please be prepared for pick-up/transport promptly by the time your kid reaches weaning age.  Any kid not picked up by 12 weeks of age without prior arrangement for boarding will be eligible for sale again and the deposit will be retained by Field of Blessings Farm.

With prior arrangement, a purchased kid can be boarded at the rate of $2/day for a maximum of 30 days.  If the kid is not picked-up/transported immediately following the agreed 30 day period, the kid will be eligible for resale and the deposit will be retained by Field of Blessings Farm.
