ABOUT OUR GOAT MILK SOAPS

Why Purchase Our Goat Milk Soap?

  • You support Our Goal of Being Good Stewards  One of the ways we manage to be good stewards and in having a sustainability goal, is to not let our precious goat milk go to waste.  Whatever is not used to drink or feed our family, we freeze to be used in our goat milk soap.  By using our products you are supporting the  production and use of our goat milk.
  • You want to support small family farms  Almost all beauty products that line the shelves of most box stores are mass-produced through machinery and an automated process, and use chemicals and additives.  We handcraft our soaps in small batches using our own goat milk and using excellent quality products.  Being small also allows us have complete oversight over the entire process of our own products.
  • You Seek the Benefits of Using Soap Made with Fresh Goat Milk  You may not be aware that there are many people selling goat milk soap but instead of using fresh frozen goat milk, they use powdered goat milk, canned goat milk from the supermarket, and even commercially produced melt and pour goat milk bases from craft stores.  These goat milk soap products are processed and are not the same a fresh whole goat milk straight from the goat into the freezer.  Our Goat Milk comes directly from our own herd of Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats.

What are benefits of Goat Milk Soap?

  • Goat Milk Soap is a Gentle Cleanser  There are not any surfactants or detergents added that can strip away the natural oils from your skin or added chemicals.
  • Goat Milk Soap is Moisturizing   Goat milk contains fatty acids that provide nourishing and moisturizing properties.  The combining of goat milk to the other oils in our soaps further increases their moisturizing and emollient ability, while not leaving the skin greasy.
  • Goat Milk Soap has Exfoliating Properties  Goat Milk contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA), including lactic acid.  AHA’s are known to be a gentle exfoliators, which in turn allow for new skin cell growth.

What are Benefits of Goat Milk Soap (continued)?

  • Goat Milk Contains Vitamins and Minerals.  The nutrients in Goat Milk either benefit the skin with their specific actions or by providing a protective barrier to the skin.
  • We use quality Oils, Butters, and Essential Oils.  Depending on the recipe we are using, the types of oils and butters we use are Apricot Kernel Oil, Coconut Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Olive Oil, Sustainably Sourced Palm Oil, Avocado Oil, Castor Oil, Cocoa Butter, and Shea Butter.  We also use a varying array of quality essential oils. Our soaps are also phthalate -and paraben-free.  There are times when we use fragrance oils, instead of essential oils, which we would then not consider it an all-natural product.  However, it still contains all the benefits of a goat milk soap.

Some More Information Regarding Our Goat Milk Soap

  • Because our soaps are handcrafted, no two may exactly be the same in appearance, but they will be handcrafted with the same in quality.
  • The reason that it is necessary to use frozen goat milk is because when making soap, the the natural sugars in the milk would scorch due to the heat generated when the milk is mixed with the sodium hydroxide (lye).
  • Lye is necessary to make soap.  Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) is necessary for the chemical reaction of saponification to occur.  Saponification is at the center of soap-making.  It is a process by which the fats (butters/oils) react with sodium hydroxide (lye).  Two things occur during the process:  1.  Lye (which is a base) neutralizes the fatty acids from the oils/butters converting them to a salt.  2.  The ester bonds between the fatty acids and glycerol are broken, releasing the glycerol. The glycerin helps the skin to retain moisture.
  • Not all of goat milk soaps are 100% natural.  Some of our soaps contain fragrance oils (manufactured) instead of essential oils (made from nature).  However, these soaps still contain all the benefits of the goat milk and oils.  It is just a matter of preference, whether you choose to use fragrance oils or not.
  • There are times we use natural additives such as herbs, clays, activated charcoal, etc. meant to achieve a specific characteristic.  They will always be included in the ingredients list.

Our Additional Bath Products

  • We also make some non-goat milk soaps.  There are many wonderful and nutrient filled soaps that can be made with distilled water instead of goat milk.  Most often we use them for specific situations, such as to achieve bright and clear colors that are difficult to achieve due to the nature of goat milk.  They will always be labeled as such on the ingredients list.
  • We sell other bath and skin care products, such as All-Natural Bath Salts and All-Natural Body Butters, created with many of the same quality ingredients used in our Goat Milk Soaps.
