Hawkeye is a sturdy and handsome buck with a curious and lovable personality to go along with it. He has made a great herd sire, having sired handsome bucks and lovely does in our herd.  Hawkeye’s sire, Zephyr, comes from excellent Rosasharn dairy lineage; his sire is Rosasharn Noble Prince and his extended lineage goes all the way back to include Goodwood Tom Thumb. According to Anne Petersen of Rosasharn Farm’s Website, Tom Thumb, “was our favorite herd sire! He built our herd.  Tom was perhaps, the most influencial buck in the history of the Nigerian breed.”  It’s exciting to know that we have a buck with those genetics running through his veins, albeit somewhat distantly.In between, there are many exceptional Rosasharn NDGs that Zephyr has descended from.  Ms. Peterson stated on the Rosasharn website of Zephyr’s sire, he’s a “Top notch buck from excellent show and productions lines.  Consistently produces passes on those traits to his kids.”  We have been so pleased with Hawk’s genetics and what he has passed on to his progeny.

The LA judge really liked Hawkeye’s conformation. He would have received a higher LA score, but because he is 1/4″ over-height, some points were deducted from his final score. Additionally, has an A/A Alpha Casein that represents a high content of alpha s1 casein in milk, which is a direct result of his excellent dairy genetics.

Hawkeye has produced lovely kids for us over the years, frequently passing on his strong, sturdy stature.  He has a great temperment and we have been so pleased to have him as a primary herd sire for our farm.
